POSITION SUMMARY: The Bariatric Coordinator assesses preoperative and postoperative needs, determines and implements plan of care of the Bariatric surgery patient and their families. The Bariatric coordinator provides clinical education for the hospital staff and is responsible for administrative policies and procedures for that service. Responsible for evaluation of data collection and oversight of BSCOE and insurance company compliance. The coordinator is actively involved with the marketing and development of the Bariatric product line.SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Identifies cultural/ religious needs, language barriers, developmental needs, etc.
and modifies plan of care as necessary to accommodate these needs.Adheres to hospital standards for documenting care.Provides for the privacy of patients/family.Performs assessment/reassessment in accordance with unit standards and/or patient condition quickly, independently, and completely.Based on assessment, plans and implements care appropriately and in a timely manner including the patient/family/significant other whenever possible.Coordinates support groups and educational sessionProvides staff in-services related to Bariatric surgery in collaboration with Bariatric Nurse Practitioner.Input of and evaluation of data for quality improvement efforts in collaboration with Bariatric Nurse Practitioner.Actively involved in marketing and development of Bariatric program.Maintains accurate and detailed patient records, reflecting each interaction with clients regarding their medical needs.Manages patients and resources in an efficient cost conscious manner.Oversight of ongoing Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence and insurance compliance.Administrative duties to include, but not limited to filing, answering phones and meeting minutes.Development of business strategies in collaboration with surgeons, consultants, and Director of Surgical Services
