Medical Assistant

Location: Wolfeboro New Hampshire

Description: Huggins Hospital is in need of Medical Assistant right now, this occupation will be placed in New Hampshire. Under the general direction of the Office Manager, is continuously responsible for assisting the Physicians and other licensed medical providers with direct patient care. Treats patients in a respec! tful, confidential and family-friendly manner.

Qualifications:
Some formal medical related training or education such as a Medical Assisting or Licensed Nursing Assistant program.

One to two years experience in the medical field unless successful completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program.

Responsibilities:
Prepares the examination room with needed supplies, instruments and equipment and maintains room in a clean manner.
Greets patients in a professional, friendly manner, escorting them to exam rooms.
Documents patient’s vital signs, including BP, temperature, height and weight, visual acuity and immunization history as appropriate to the appointment type.
Documents patient’s chief complaint, medical history and completes pertinent forms.
Prepares/instructs/positions and drapes the patient.
Accepts and returns patient calls under the supervision of the nurse or provider, using appropriate te! lephone etiquette.
Ensure the doctor is on schedule being ! mindful of emergencies and unexpected interruptions.
Ensure that patient confidentiality is always maintained.
Performs phlebotomy and venipuncture.
10. Prepares specimens and documentation for processing or transportation to processing facility.
11. Perform EKG’s, PFT’s, rapid strep, pregnancy tests and other tests that maybe ordered by the provider.
12. Care, cleaning and sterilization of equipment per instruction or established procedures.
13. Assist in minor surgeries and procedures such as pap smears, suturing, dressing changes, catheterizations and casting. Practices aseptic and sterile techniques as needed.
14. Prepare and administer medications as directed by a provider.
15. Order medical supplies and medications/immunizations as needed and keep exam rooms and bathrooms stocked.
16. Keep drug closets clean and organized while ensuring that all medications are current and disposing of expired medications or sample medications p! er pharmacy procedures.
17. Disposes of used supplies properly and follows all established infection control and biohazard policies and procedures.
18. Call orders to pharmacies for medications under the direction and supervision of the nurse or provider.
