Position Summary: The Director, Surgical Services, directs and manages the operations and activities of Perioperative Services including Ambulatory a! nd Post Anesthesia Care Units, Pre Admission Testing, Central Sterile and Pain Clinic to achieve the department and organization’s strategic goals.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains current knowledge in all aspects of Perioperative practice
- Manages all direct and indirect nursing care given to patients within the departments to ensure optimal patient care
- Determines staffing requirements; interviews, hires and evaluates staff; develops annual goals and budget
- Provides leadership in compliance with applicable safety and quality standards; provides leadership for growth and development of new services in areas of clinical supervision
- Oversees staff development, competency and leadership development/mentoring
- Ensures department wide compliance with statutory mandates, regulatory requirements and accreditation standards of CMS, TJC, CAP, OSHA, EPA, AABB, ARC, EMTALA
- Designs and implements departme! nt quality improvement program; participates in hospital and s! ervice line quality improvement efforts
- Manages the department’s operations and resources to achieve quality, financial, growth, productivity and satisfaction objectives for overall success and growth of the departments
- With Chief of Surgery, co-chairs the Surgical Operations Team and Department of Surgery Committees
- With Medical Director for Robotics, co-chairs the Robotic Steering Committee
- With Anesthesia physician leadership, manages Anesthesia services
- Provides direct oversight of the hospital’s central sterile processing department staff and operations
- Coordinates the laser safety program
- Participates in division wide initiatives to meet the department and organization’s goals
- Promotes internal and external customer satisfaction; performs regular rounding with physicians and other providers
- Participates in business outreach and community efforts aimed at increasing visibility and gr! owth
- Builds and promotes a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement

Director, Surgical Services
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with an active license to practice in New Hampshire
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing or Master’s of Science in Nursing required, Masters preferred
- American Heart Association BCLS required
- AORN or other related Perioperative Certification required
- Minimum three to five years progressive experience in OR nursing
- Two to three years in a managerial or supervisory position required
