To independently communicate with surgeons and researchers regarding specimen availability and to serve on a research team involved in the investigation of the mucosal i! mmune system in the female reproductive tract of women undergoing surgical procedures.
Skills & Knowledge
Ability to work independently and apply critical thinking and sound judgment.
Ability to manage records.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Knowledge of computers and software applications.
Knowledge of standard computer software packages for data analysis and presentation, and on-line literature search engines.
Knowledge of standard computer software packages including FileMaker â€" for handling patient information
Minimum Experience
Three years of relevant hospital/ clinical experience.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent.
Registered Nurse.

Key Accountabilities !
Laboratory Assistance
Work in conjunction wi! th the DH OB/ GYN department to identify surgical patients.
Create lists of patients scheduled for specific types of surgery.
Arrange to have study-specific consent form put in each patient’s preoperative chart.
Create specific weekly lists of surgeries and distributes them to the Operating Room and Pathology Department.
Assign cases to specific research projects.
Data Collection/Preparation
Maintains confidentiality of each patient.
Collects patient data for research studies.
Enters detailed patient medical data into a FileMaker program.
Participates in the preparation of reports of research findings.
Miscellaneous
Communicates respectfully with patients, physicians and researchers.
