- POSITION SUMMARYFunctions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in a cooperative effort with the health care team to assist in providing a variety of patient care related dut ies in assigned area of surgical services.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures the availability and preparedness of supplies and equipment needed to support efficient and effective perioperative processes: gathers supplies and instruments needed for patient procedure.
- Maintains anesthesia machine and cart by checking for all necessary equipment and supplies prior to start of case, cleaning after each case and restocking according to established par levels.
- Maintains an environment which consistently meets all safety, infection control and quality standards.
- Supports Anesthesia and Operating Room personnel to ensure the cleanliness of equipment and support patient safety.
- Functions as an integral member of the Operating Room team and contributes to maintaining a professional, respectful and effective patient care and work environment.
- Promotes continuity in surgery turnover time. < li>Assists in maintaining a clean, safe and efficient operating room suite.
- Transports specimens, equipment, and supplies between a variety of departments and patient care areas as needed.
- Ensures a professional, respectful and effective patient care and working environment through consistent use of appropriate interpersonal and communication skills.
- REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Knowledge of practices and techniques utilized in a support role in an operating room.
- Ability to establish successful interpersonal relationships with patients and co-workers.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: One (1) year of experience in a hospital operating room or Ambulatory Surgery Center preferred.
- Cert ification/Licensure: BLS required.
